  1. There were many different ideas in this little clip to help improve the lives of people internationally. The idea that seemed most inspirational to me were the PlayPumps. The designs as merry-go-rounds for children to pump water is extremely conventional. Children have lately loved to play outside within the country, and many worldwide. An idea based on the PlayPumps could be people-powered generators-- since they are amply scattered throughout certain countries. There could be an easy, non-toiling way to power a generator by movement-- such as pressure sensitive pads that send the message of energy to the circuitry. That way it can be more efficient to gain energy and have a pretty good workout!

  2. i think the PlayPumps are a great way to save electricity and stay healthy.if they need water they can get it and power the pumps themselves, rather then wasting unnecessary amounts of electricity. The work that they do to get the clean water will keep them healthier and in shape, as well as having the water clean in the first place.

  3. I thought the facts of the very beginning of this video were very interesting. I had no idea that in the last 50 years we used up 10000 years of the worlds resources. Also, I thought the PlayPumps were a very good idea, not only are the children getting clean water, but they are having fun doing it.

  4. I think the PlayPumps are a great solution to many issues in Africa. This helps people get clean water quicker and easily, and allows children a place to play. This may even start an increase in development in rural areas. What a fun, clean, and green solution!

  5. I found it appsolutely amazing that within the last 50 years we have consumed more of the worlds natural resources then the last 10,000 years combined. Also that within the last 100 years the worlds population has grown by 5 billion people. With the population increasing as rabidly as it is we need to find more green solutions like hybrid cars and recyling. I think that people have take awarness to these issues and do even the smallest things to help out.

  6. I think tacticsofhope.org has an effective way of making people more passionate about saving the environment. Instead of preaching generic ways to do so, it appeals to an individual's concerns, which is how I think is the best way to make people interested.

  7. I totally agree with you, Max. I never knew that one of the main reasons why our Earth is running so low on natural resources is the almost exponential increase of our world population. If every one of the 6.6 billion people across the world would do a few small enviromentally-conscious acts per day, our planet could be much more sustainable place.

  8. The fact that over the last 50 years of our existence we have consumed more the in the overall consumption of the last 10,000 years combined.
I also think that peer to peer the online organization were you play bank and give someone in poverty a loan to help them start a business. As this business grows larger the amount of poverty will grow smaller. Then when 97% of loans are also payed back creates healthy expand in business and a way to fight poverty.

  10. Going back to what Max and Jess were saying about the population increase, I wonder if there is going to be a limit on having children in the distant future due to this. If the population continues to go up than not only will we use more energy, but more forests will be cut down for land use. In my opinion this is one of the biggest long term problems we have.

  11. The statistics in this video are astonishing, but this is bound to happen with the countries having the highest and most uprising populations being the countries who use the most resources. These ideas could though slow the destruction down but I dont believe we can stop it. There is to much need and want on earth. Maybe our generation could fix this, nothing is impossible.
